Back-to-Back Achievements

The Men's Lacrosse team had a busy weekend of hosting two back to back games in Moraga. On Friday evening they were challenged by UC Santa Cruz and on Sunday they faced off against Cal Poly Humboldt. The Gaels have had a solid season so far with great team leadership and cohesion. Going into these games the Gales felt pretty self-assured that they could walk away victorious.
The Banana Slugs took charge on the field and almost overtook the Gael's defense. Luckily, midfielder Chris Contini '29 prevented the opposing team from obtaining more goals. After this slick save, the Gaels were able to effectively bounce back and rampage on offense. Before they knew it, the final buzzer rang and the Gaels had won 8-6.
Still on their triumphant high, the Gaels had positive momentum going up against the Lumberjacks. Immediately, the Gaels had an effective conviction that ruled the field. Chris Chavez '28 stood out for his incredible performance on offense, securing the lead for Saint Mary's. Overall, there was an obvious improvement from Friday's game. This improvement was evident as the Gaels achieved a 14-7 success. The flow between teammates was more seamless and the communication was more efficient.
Looking ahead for the rest of the season, this team will be focused on taking more time with the ball while on offense. This weekend the Gaels will be traveling to Chico for their next match. The game will be on Sunday, March 1st at 1PM. Send them your best wishes!
