Luck of the Gaels: Great weekend for Men’s Club Volleyball and Baseball ☘️
By: Emma Owen Dildine
This past weekend was a lucky event for our Gaels, just in time for Saint Patrick's Day. We had two major wins for our club teams. On Saturday, March 14th, we saw that our Gaels were able to dominate their opponents.
First, we had our men's club volleyball take on the Santa Rosa Bear Cubs. It was senior night for our Gaels, and Senior libero Dillon Rockwell '26 gave it his all on the court. He was able to make a dig that was able to push the Gaels to win the match. His attitude throughout the match motivated his teammates to give it their all. We also saw that Andrew Carney '27 was extremely aggressive on the net, giving the Bear Cubs a run for their money. Last but not least, we have a player who dominated the scoreboard, Logan Milestone '27. He had powerful swings and well-timed attacks that helped to secure the 3-1 win for the Gaels.
Next, we had an exciting day for men's club baseball. This weekend, they were able to play with a homefield advantage at Saint Mary's Brother Ronald Gallagher Stadium, which they are not typically able to do, and they rose to the occasion. On Saturday, they played UC Santa Cruz. The crowd was primarily Slug-dominated, but the Gaels did not let that shake them because their first game's final score was a dominant 9-2. This was a great game for Noah Baez '28, who was able to throw a complete game. He cinched the win for the Gaels while only allowing for two runs.
Next up for our men's club volleyball is their league championships at the University of the Pacific this upcoming weekend, and for our men's club baseball, they have a game at Humboldt on April 11-12. Hopefully, this lucky streak continues!
